 MANAGE YOUR CAREER Minimize

Evaluate your career path

Take the time to evaluate your career periodically. It helps you assess the progress you have made. It also helps your identify opportunities and encourages you to investigate options and make decisions. Though everyone evaluates their careers differently, here are some helpful questions to ask yourself:

Your work history

  • What have you liked most about jobs you've had in the past?
  • What are the most and least appealing aspects of the businesses you've worked for?
  • What are reasons you've left jobs in the past?
  • What skills and knowledge have you gained?

Your current job

  • Are you satisfied in your current job?
  • What are you favorite parts of the job you have now?
  • What do you like least about the job you have now?
  • Do you like the business you work for now and the goals it is trying to accomplish?
  • What does you future look like in the business you work for now?

Your next job

  • Are there other careers you'd like to try or learn more about?
  • Are there other businesses you'd like to work for?
  • What skills and knowledge would you like to use more often?
  • What skills and knowledge would you like to learn?
  • What other types of work might be more satisfying than what you do now?
